Catalogue published on the occasion of the exhibition Menschen des 20.Jahrhunderts, People of the 20th Century: Photographs by August Sander at the Scottish Photography Group, Edinburgh in 1977. The exhibition included a selection from an exhibition of 500 photographs by Sander, organised by Schirmer/Mosel and first shown in Photokinia in 1976.
With an essay by Alfred Döblin titled About Faces, Portraits and Their Reality, originally published in 1929 as introduction to August Sander’s book Antlitz der Zeit (Face of Our Time), and a text on the artist (August Sander 1876 – 1964) by Keith Hardiman.
